Herd future plays now
HUNTINGTON -- Damier Pitts and Shaq Johnson make up the Marshall men's basketball backcourt of the future. They're also the backcourt of the present, head coach Donnie Jones said.
With Mark Snyder's standing as Marshall University head football coach settled, it's time to diagram the 2009 Thundering Herd. That process kicked off Monday with player workouts and recruiting.

Herd basketball’s Marcus Goode is big and he is playing well. The sophomore connected on his first five shots Saturday on his way to finishing the game 5-for-7 with 11 points and eight rebounds.
After another losing season, will Marshall football coach Mark Snyder return for the 2009 season. The decision rests with the university's president.

Herd men back in the win column
HUNTINGTON -- Everything Marshall did wrong last week in Florida, the Thundering Herd did right Saturday.
Playing before a smallish, but involved Joan C. Edwards Stadium crowd, Marshall University football wrapped up a roller-coaster 2008 campaign, falling 38-35 to Tulsa.
HUNTINGTON -- Tulsa figured to put pressure on a quarterback making his first start of the season in the final game of the regular season.
Marshall head coach Donnie Jones praised the fans who turned out for an 11:30 a.m. game Saturday to watch the Thundering Herd men's basketball team beat Old Dominion, 68-64.
